An Intro to Extreme Sports

An extreme sport is a term used for sports that have a high level of danger. These sports often involve speed, height, a high level of physical exertion, and highly specialized gear. Use of the phrase “extreme sport” has spread far and wide to describe the sport and exactly which sports are considered ‘extreme’ is debatable. Extreme sports tend to be more solitary than traditional sports meaning athletes tend to work on their craft without the guidance of a coach.

In 2004, author Joe Tomlinson labelled extreme sports as those that take place in air, land, and water. People interested in Joes book titled, Extreme Sports: In Search of the Ultimate Thrill just click on the link, http://www.amazon.com/Extreme-Sports-Search-Ultimate-Thrill/dp/155297992X.
